Plastic ocean pollution is becoming a world-wide epidemic, and if we do not want to end up eating plastic fish, or swimming in a plastic ocean, we must join in the effort to help reduce it. Here at Christopher Bean Coffee, we eagerly join the effort of companies, like Costa Sunglasses, to help raise awareness of this global issue.
Costa recently launched a campaign, Kick Plastic, to help raise awareness of ocean pollution. In a quote from their campaign’s site, we get to hear from fishermen themselves: “Americans may be recycling more than ever before, but we're also making more trash than ever before. So even though we're getting better, our oceans continue to get worse—strangled by plastic bottles, bags and other trash. As fishermen, we're in a unique position to do something about it. The oceans are our backyard, our playground, and you can bet we'll be there to keep an eye on them.”
Need more inspiration? Watch the Kick Plastic short film, which states that there is a garbage patch the size of Texas in the Pacific Ocean. As for us, we will be reducing plastic waste by offering our new BPA free , completely recyclable Right Cup (K Cup), which is part of the Kick Plastic campaign, and continuing to use paper products where we can.
