Bananas Foster Single Cup. Holy Flambe! Indulge yourself with this spectacular flavored coffee blend from Christopher Bean Coffee, inspired by the popular New Orleans dessert - the Bananas Foster. All that ripe banana flavor swimming in melting buttery goodness, spiked with cinnamon and a dash of dark rum - in one steaming cup.
The Bananas Foster first came to be in the 1950's when New Orleans was the major dropping point of bananas shipped from South and Central Americas. Owen Brennan, the proprietor of Brennan's Restaurant, wanted to popularize the imported fruit so he asked his chef, Paul, to include it in his new dessert - and voila - Bananas Foster was born.
Wondering about the peculiar name? It is named after Owen's friend, Richard Foster, who was the New Orleans Crime Commission chairman at the time.
Today, the Bananas Foster is still served at Brennan's and other fine dining establishments in New Orleans. If you're lucky, they will prepare it at your table side so you get to see the flambe.
